A Relaxing Travel Crochet Shawl Pattern and the Perfect Gift
I recently completed a lovely crocheted shawl using the free Caron Geometric Grid Crochet Shawl pattern. This pattern was such a joy to work on—it was easy to follow, and the repetitive stitches made it a relaxing project that I could work on while traveling. It’s not too bulky, so it fits perfectly in my travel bag, making it my go-to project on the go!
For this shawl, I used Lion Brand Ice Cream yarn in the colorway “Coffee.” This yarn was a steal—I found it on sale for just $5 a skein at Jo-Ann Fabrics! I ended up using about 1 ¾ skeins to complete the shawl, so it was not only an enjoyable project but also budget-friendly. It comes in lots of different colors and variations.
I paired the yarn with my trusty Susan Bates 5.5mm “I” crochet hook—my go-to for projects like this. The pattern, yarn, and hook worked beautifully together, resulting in a lightweight yet cozy shawl.
Before I send this shawl off to its new home with my Mom (who always loves receiving something “Made by Marni” ), I wanted to share a few photos of it. I’m thrilled with how it turned out, and I hope you’ll find inspiration in this project, too.
Stay tuned for more crocheting and knitting adventures!
Happy Crocheting! Marni
