Jared Burgoon (he/they) has been knitting since 2018, though making things by hand has always been part of his life—from embroidery and latch hooking to woodworking and fiber arts. Knitting quickly became his favorite creative outlet, offering focus, calm, and joy in the middle of busy days. Jared loves knitting shawls, scarves, and beanies, and brings patience, encouragement, and a playful spirit to teaching. A full-time professional at the Burkhart Center and part of a family of educators, he has a natural gift for helping others learn. An award-winning knitter, Jared has earned numerous ribbons at the South Plains Fair, including Best in Show for Knitting in 2025, and also received Blue and Red ribbons in his first year entering the State Fair of Texas. He’s passionate about helping others build skills, confidence, and pride in what they create.
