January slowed us down a bit here in Lubbock—and honestly, that felt like a gift.
During the snow days, I spent quiet hours doing something I’ve been meaning to do for a long time: caring for donated, sampled, and partially used yarns that still had so much life in them. The result is something new and very close to my heart.
Moonbits have landed.
Moonbits are reclaimed yarns—reviewed, weighed, and thoughtfully re-bundled—ready for new stories. Some are mixed or mysterious. Some still carry their original manufacturer sample labels. A few are especially special: hand-dyed or hand-spun bits that deserve another chapter.
The Moonbits Collections
To keep things intuitive and easy to explore, Moonbits are organized into three small collections.
Moonbits Core – our most open-ended bits.
These include reclaimed yarns with unknown or mixed fiber content—still cleaned, weighed, and carefully re-bundled, but without full labeling information. They’re perfect for experimentation and low-pressure making.

Great for:
- mending and visible repair
- swatching and practice
- weaving and small loom projects
- creative play without expectations
- Moonbits Core invite curiosity.
Moonbits Select – a step up in clarity and consistency.

These bundles often include labeled distributor samples, known fibers, or especially nice commercial yarns. When original labels are available, they’re included so you can see fiber content and care details.
Great for:
- trying a yarn before committing to a full skein
- colorwork, stripes, and accessories
- thoughtful gift projects
- Moonbits Select are curated discoveries.
Moonbits Artisan – the rarest bits in the collection
These include hand-dyed, hand-spun, or small-batch indie yarn remnants—yarns made with exceptional care that still have plenty of life left in them. Quantities are very limited, and each bundle is truly one of a kind.

Great for:
- special accents
- heirloom mending
- meaningful small projects
- Moonbits Artisan are little treasures.
Choose Your Phase
All Moonbits are sold by moon phase, making it easy to choose what fits your project:
🌑 New Moon — 25g
🌓 Half Moon — 50g
🌕 Full Moon — 100g
Each bundle is weighed, labeled, and priced with care. Once a Moonbit is gone, it won’t be repeated.
Pricing at a Glance
Moonbits are priced by weight and collection, reflecting the care and materials involved.
- Moonbits Core begin at $3
- Moonbits Select are slightly higher, depending on fiber and labeling
- Moonbits Artisan are priced individually based on rarity and materials
You’ll find clear pricing on each bundle in-store.
Available In-Store Only
Moonbits are available in-store only. This is a hands-on collection—meant to be touched, explored, and discovered in person. You’ll find all Moonbits together in our Just Landed spot at the front of the shop starting Wednesday.
A Thank-You for Fall Yarn Exchange Participants
If you participated in our Fall 2025 Yarn Exchange and still have Yarn Exchange tokens, you’re invited to use them toward Moonbits.
Each Yarn Exchange token may be redeemed for $1 Moonbits credit, applied to any Moonbits bundle—Core, Select, or Artisan. Tokens can be combined and used at checkout.
This is our way of saying thank you for helping keep yarn in circulation and for trusting us with materials that now have a second life.
Ongoing Yarn Donations
If you have yarn you’re ready to pass along, we now accept yarn donations on an ongoing basis. Accepted donations receive Yarn Exchange tokens, which may be redeemed toward Moonbits as a thank-you for helping keep yarn in circulation.
1 accepted skein = 1 Yarn Exchange token
1 token = $1 Moonbits credit
Donations are reviewed with care, and not all yarn may be accepted. If you have questions, feel free to ask before bringing yarn in.
I hope Moonbits offer a gentle invitation back into making—and a reminder that yarn, like people, can have more than one life.
Warm stitches,
Marni 🌙
