Kingsgate adds out of this world yarn store

The Yarny Way is officially open in Kingsgate South. Marni Reecer, who owns the store, told Everythinglubbock.com she’s grateful the stars aligned and allowed her to start the new business.

The Yarny Way has a wide selection of yarn, which are broken up into eight different space-themed sections and categorized by vibes according to Reecer. While Reecer saw the need for a place here in the Hub City for people to purchase yarn, she said something bigger than that inspired her to open the store.

“We’re also a sort of creative hub for fiber artists or people who want to do more with fiber,” she explained.

Reecer said the goal is to build community by offering classes for everyone, whether people are just getting started, or for others like Reecer, who’ve been working with fiber all their lives.

“We’ll have Friday craft and chill… And then we’re going to have a beginning knitting series coming up in October and then in September probably beginning crochet,” Reecer explained.

Whether you knit, crochet, spin or weave, Reecer said she hopes the classes will really bring people together.

“It’s a chance for people just to bring whatever they’re working on and sit with each other and connect through, you know, fiber,” she said.

That’s part of why the Milky Way has been such an inspiration for The Yarny Way too.

“It’s a place full of diverse stars and planets, and I feel like that’s the way the community is as well,” Reecer told Everythinglubbock.com. “Everybody has their own style. There is not one way to knit or crochet, but lots and, you know, people just come from a variety of backgrounds and interests.”

Although her business is just getting started, Reecer said seeing her lifelong dream become a reality has been an out-of-this-world experience.
