Today I got the keys to the space at Kingsgate South that will be home to The Yarny Way’s first brick-and-mortar yarn shop in Lubbock, Texas.
I’m terrified—and so excited. I’m told that’s a good thing?! The only thing to do is go forward, and I’m full of hope, a little fear, and the kind of excitement that feels like a tangled, happy mess—ready to be wound into something meaningful and lasting.
This isn’t just about opening a yarn shop. It’s about creating a space for connection, creativity, and friendship. A place where folks can gather, slow down, and feel at home among fiber and kindred spirits. Whether you’re a lifelong knitter, a beginner with a ball of yarn and a dream, or someone who just needs a soft place to land—you’re welcome here.
I don’t have all the answers yet. The shelves are still empty (but not for long!). The walls haven’t yet heard the laughter and conversation that will soon fill the air. But I’m trusting the process—and inviting you to follow along as we stitch a dream into reality, one loop at a time.
As I stood in the middle of the big, empty space, I thought of a little hobbit taking the first step on a very unexpected journey:
“Go back?” he thought. “No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!”
— J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit
And I won’t be doing it alone.
I’m so excited to share that my daughter, Lili, will be helping out in the shop too! If you visit, you’ll likely meet her—and once you do, you’ll instantly feel the softness of her world. Her vibe is totally Planet Plush ☁️—gentle, joyful, and filled with quiet magic. Like me, Lili is autistic, and we’re creating a space that embraces neurodiversity, creativity, and kindness in every fiber and every interaction.
More about her magic—and Planet Plush!—in a future post.

Curious what’s already in the shop?
Visit the shop—it’s still in its baby stages, but more yarn is on the way!
This is just the beginning. Next up: a post all about the vibes behind the brand—because fiber feels, and this journey is stitched with intention.
Thank you for being here. I can’t wait to grow this with you.
With warm stitches and kind vibes,
Marni
