WEST TEXAS YARN TRAIL TO DEBUT ON LOCAL YARN STORE DAY
A new collaboration connecting fiber friends across West Texas
Lubbock, TX — April 23, 2026
A new fiber adventure is coming to West Texas.
The West Texas Yarn Trail, a collaboration between independent yarn shops, will officially debut on Local Yarn Store Day (April 25, 2026), with its founding partners: The Yarny Way and Abilene Yarn Company.
Created by shop owners Marni Reecer and Emily McMillan, the West Texas Yarn Trail is designed to encourage fiber enthusiasts to explore local yarn shops, connect with the community, and experience the creativity and hospitality that make each shop unique.
“West Texas is full of incredible makers and yarn lovers, and we wanted to create something that brings people together across the miles,” said the founders. “The Yarn Trail is about more than shopping — it’s about connection, creativity, and taking the scenic route.”
To participate, customers can purchase a Yarn Trail Passport for $1 at either participating shop. With each purchase, visitors receive a unique stamp in their passport. When they bring their stamped passport to another participating shop, they’ll receive a small thank-you gift as a celebration of supporting local yarn stores.
Each shop offers its own gift and sets its own terms, keeping the experience flexible, welcoming, and community-focused.
As the trail grows, additional shops across West Texas may be invited to join, expanding the experience into a regional fiber destination.
The West Texas Yarn Trail invites knitters, crocheters, and fiber artists of all kinds to shop small, stitch big, and follow the yarn across West Texas.
