Hi Debbie! It’s always best to make a swatch first so you know how many stitches per inch you need. For me I would probably just use the same number of stitches whether I do straight or double-pointed needles. As long as you have an even number of stitches (for knit 2 purl 2 ribbing) you should be fine. Good luck!

Hi, I think Debbie’s confusion on the number of stitches stems from are you knitting in the round with 4 needles or 5? 4 needles you cast on 24, and 5 needles you cast on 32.

To clarify, I use a total of 4 needles to cast on and the 5th needle is the one that works around the 4. 8 sts per needle for a total of 32 stitches around.
