Knitted Slippers

Knitted Slippers Free Pattern

With the weather getting cooler in Texas (finally) I needed a pair of knitted slippers!

This free knitting pattern on Ravelry.com, is by designer Yuko Nakimura Designs.

The directions were very easy for me to follow. I was able to adjust it to my size needles and yarn… and even make a smaller size. The pattern on Ravelry was too large for my size 8 foot. If socks are worn underneath, they won’t slip of though 🙂

I’ve also thrown them in the washing machine and dryer and while the yarn tends to pile a little, they are still very much intact and very well worn in my house – by my husband too!

Here are variations I’ve made with different yarns:

Loops & Threads
Yarn I used: Loops & Threads Cozy Wool 50% Acrylic 50% Wool
I chose the colors Thunder and Mushroom for my first pair.

Bernat Roving
I have also used  80% Acrylic 20% Wool (I found it a bit softer, but using it to weave in ends and sew seams together results in it thinning and splitting :/

Lion Brand
I also tried using , which I really like. They made a slightly smaller pair. The yarn is strong and the shape is good. This is also 80% Acrylic and 20% Wool.

Cascade
Lastly I made a pair using a yarn from CascadeYarns.com that I purchased at SerialKnitters.com in Kirkland, WA.

Each yarn is different, but all made great slippers. I have yet to sew on patches of leather to save the soles from wearing out too soon. That is definitely on my to-do list! Stay tuned.

Needles: 5.5mm (9 US)
