mbm Knitted Booties Pattern

mbm knitted booties

19 August 2015
Pattern update: To include multiple sizes.

After making several knitted slippers for big feet, I decided to make some little booties using the same technique. These knitted booties work up fast from any type of worsted weight yarn in your stash. The finished pattern size small, makes a bootie with about a 4″ long sole.

    Shouldn’t row 5 of the instep = 29 stitches, not 31?

      Hi Marilyn!
Thank you for your comment. I actually went through the pattern this morning and made a bootie. I decided my pattern was not as well written as it should be so I went ahead and made changes to it. Please take a look and let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing your finished work!

I still count 29 vs 31 stitches on row 5 of the instep. Thanks.

Even after the corrections I still had to chage the numbers in order to get 32 sts 36 sts ect. Row 2 had to change K12 to K 10 than I get 32 sts. Row 4 had to change K14 to K12 in order to get 36 sts. and so on. ????????

Hi, love this pattern. How do I make the larger sizes? Say for a one year old? The pattern is only for newborn?

Hi Rachel! Yes this is written for a new baby – if you could tell me the length in inches of the sole for the one year old I can add that size to the pattern for you

Hi, I love these booties but I’m having some trouble with the instep instructions. I just completed row 11 and I have the correct amount of stitches left but I can’t figure out how to do row 12 when my working yarn is not at the end of the row. Can you help?

The best way to help is probably to just make a video and post it. Hang in there and I will let you know when I have it done. I promise it will be this week!

      Hi Krysten!
I think I know why you had trouble on the 12th row… It was wrong 🙁 but I’ve updated the pattern and added a video that will hopefully clear things up for you.

I may be missing something but when I print the pattern the changes for the larger sizes don’t show up. As written the booties don’t fit my little one, and I’d love to make a pair that fit

You should be able to view and print the pattern of you have the Adobe pdf reader which is available for free — do you have that installed?

Ok, I hate to be annoying, but I’m having trouble getting the correct number 0f stitches:
    Row 1: -fine
    Row 2: K1, M1, K1, M1, K12, (come to marker) K12, K1, M1, K1, M1 = 36 (not 32)
    (k1+m1=3; k1+m1=3; K12 (marker after 18 st) k12+k1+m1=15; k1+m1=3=18 total =36)
UNLESS !!! I think I have reached nervana 🙂 is the first K st. PART of the M1 stitch? Because then the numbers work.
    Or am I a dork?

Hi Tanya! Sorry for any confusion. You can see how I create two stitches out of one in the video I made.

I knit one and make 1 in the and stitch. Forward to the 1:00 mark in the video 🙂
