Can I ask to get the neck area do you knit just straight across the sleeve and work downward for the back until desired length or all the way across to enf the sleeve I guess I’m confused I’ve never made one before and haven’t knitted in awhile. I love the look of the shrug and want to make it for my granddaughter. I just don’t know where to start after the first sleeve to get to the other sleeve di I knit to marker then continue knitting the other sleeve and start the decreasing. I may be asking a stupid question but this is new to me. Thank you.

Hi Janet,
In the pattern I have a diagram of the way the shrug should turn out. I placed a marker where I wanted the back to start and knit until I got to where I wanted the other arm to start. There is not “neck” per se. There are the same amount of stitches from armpit to armpit.

Hi Marni, I’m very confused You say cast on 20 sts for the sleeves. I get that. How many stitches do you cast on for the back? It’s seems to me you would cast on say ( as an example ) 80 sts. 20 sts for each sleeve and 40 sts for the back. I guess what I’m asking is we’re do the sts come from after you finish the first sleeve? I thought this was worked as one whole piece? Mthanks for your help I’m dying to start this!
