There’s something special about making time in the middle of the day to sit down, pick up your needles, and make steady progress — one stitch at a time.
This summer, The Yarny Way is inviting knitters to do exactly that with a new Summer Lunch KAL Series: relaxed, welcoming knit-alongs designed for makers who want a little structure, a little community, and a project worth showing off.
Bring your lunch, settle in, and spend your midday hour knitting alongside fellow makers in a kind, encouraging space. Whether you’re looking for something playful or ready to cast on a garment you’ll wear for years, we have a summer project for you.
We begin the season with texture, movement, and a little knitting magic.
Our May Lunch KAL features the beautiful Pincha Shawl by Pinpilan Wangsai— a sculptural shawl shaped with wrap-and-turn short rows that create dramatic feather-like points along the edge. The result is rhythmic knitting, wonderful texture, and a finished shawl that looks far more complex than it is.
If you’ve wanted to build confidence with short rows, this is a terrific project. Watching the feather shapes emerge is incredibly satisfying — especially in color-rich yarn.

Our June Lunch KAL features the wildly lovable Emotional Support Chicken pattern by Annette Corsino — a project full of charm, personality, and plenty of room for creativity.
Classic hen colors? Bright stripes? Rainbow feathers? Slightly ridiculous? Entirely elegant? Every chicken comes out with its own look — and usually a little attitude.
This 4-week knit-along is approachable, satisfying, and a great way to practice shaping, finishing, and playful details.

Participants bring their own worsted-weight yarn (or shop from our shelves), plus the pattern, available through The Yarny Way.

For knitters ready for a beautiful warm-weather garment, our July Lunch KAL is something special: a 6-week knit-along featuring Ranunculus by Midori Hirose— airy, flattering, and beloved by knitters everywhere.

Our Lunch KALs — and Jared’s Evening KAL — are open to virtual participants, too. Purchase your Ticket, gather your supplies, and knit along from wherever you call home. Let us know when you register that you will be a remote knitter.
We’ll share project updates, encouragement, and finished makes through The Yarny Way Community group on Ravelry, so everyone can participate — whether you’re knitting with us in person or from afar.
