Feeling Lucky 🙂

In spite of everything 2020 and even 2021 have brought us, I feel lucky. I remain ever the optimist and ever so grateful for all the lucky charms in my life since I started my earthly experience. The last 12 months have taught me so much!

I gained a much clearer realization of how we humans are so connected (thanks to Covid), how we have an alarming and tremendous impact on our environment (thanks to lockdowns), and how we in the U.S. have knowingly or unknowingly participated in systemic racism for far too long and need to wake up to that fact and do something about it. 2020 revealed to me how important LOVE is. If we don’t live our lives with that understanding, then hate for things such as power and greed, and money, and violence will continue to thrive. So, I vow again to move forward on my journey of seeking truth and living an honest life of love.

This little blog, which began as a way to record my projects (so I wouldn’t forget them!), has been a wonderful source of inspiration and a place of refuge for me. Sitting with a ball of yarn and an idea makes me so happy. Through my blog and social media experiences, I was introduced to a beautiful community of people who love to make things with fiber in their hands, just like me! Regardless of borders, languages, religions, and gender identities, we connect with each other. And that brings me hope. We knitters and crocheters worldwide are, in a small but not insignificant way, a family. And together, we can spread kindness, hope, and love. So let’s!

My new pattern is a commitment to being grateful to “feel lucky” despite everything. It symbolizes my determination to live a good life of gratitude and be a brave, bright light. As I reach the end of my 55th year on earth this Saint Patrick’s Day, I wish you luck, peace, and joy.

Now, meet Kirsty!

Her recipes are simple, good, and inspiring, just like some patterns are! Her commitment to elevating the table and honoring food and our connection to it is very likable!

Feeling Lucky Pulli – Knitting Pattern

Using the same approach as the Simple Knit Shrug and Love Shrug, the Feeling Lucky Pulli is knit from one sleeve to another in one piece, adorned with the simple wishbone cable stitch. You can choose to make a Mock Pulli or a Full Pulli. The pattern includes instructions for each—size S, M, & L.

Finished one-piece construction:

Knitting techniques – Knit, Purl, Cable, increasing, decreasing, and adding stitches.

Yarn Notes  –
For the mock pulli gray version, I used 3 skeins of DK weight yarn from Berroco (Vintage DK) paired with Mohair (Berroco Aerial).
The dark green full pulli was knit with 6 skeins of Capra DK in Hemlock Heather from Knitpicks.com.

Gauge –  Size 8 US (5mm) needles & DK yarn
14 stitches x 20 rows = 4″ square after blocking.

Skill Level – Best for Intermediate knitters or beginners ready for their next challenge. The written pattern includes both an increase and decrease guide to help you count and keep things even 🙂
