Fingerless Gloves

If you can work on double pointed needles you can knit these fingerless gloves in no time.

Handknit fingerless gloves are a welcome addition to just about anyone’s wardrobe – male or female! What makes these so easy is there is not thumb gusset, just a hole for the thumb! Great for keeping the chill away indoors as well as outside! Plus they look cool 🙂

The “Pattern”

For my hand, I divided 39 stitches on 3 double pointed needles for a total of 39 stitches and worked with the fourth needle in the round. It also works with 42 stitches (14 on each needle). Knit 20 rounds and then make the space for the thumb, by knitting back and forth instead of in a circle. Do this for 9 or 10 rounds and then join it up on the knit round. Continue knitting around and around until they are the desired length. For me, this was about 9 or 10 inches. This fingerless glove pattern is super easy to customize for your own hand. There is no increasing or decreasing so it’s a great project to take along with you or watch TV by.

Don’t like DPNs?

You could knit this as one piece flat and then sew the side seam. To do this I recommend adding a stitch or two accommodate a seam allowance.

Cast on 40 stitches, knit back and forth in stockinette stitch until the desired length. Sew sides together leaving a hole where you want your thumb to go!
